In September 2003 Vanderlande Industries US Inc. signed an agreement with the Vancouver International Airport Authority, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (YVRAA). The contract is for the supply and implementation of the entire Hold Baggage System and associated controls for the expansion of both the International system and the Transborder system to the United States.

At the completion of the new systems the Airport International operations will become increasingly more efficient, with advanced control over all International baggage operations; keeping the Vancouver International Airport on the cutting edge of technology and a leader in advance system implementations.

  • Vanderlande Industries will be integrating its standardised range of baggage handling equipment, which will optimise the installation and commissioning activities.
  • The commonality of components used throughout the system reduces the amount of repair time and increases the maintainability of the equipment.
  • Approximately 3,500 feet (1,070 m) of conveyors and associated equipment built in and around an existing operating baggage handling system is required for each of the two baggage areas.
  • Additional ancillary equipment includes VERTISORTER, vertibelts, VIPER, and Belt Junctions, in addition to our standard belt conveyor. The project also includes modifications and tie-ins to the existing operational baggage sortation systems
  • Vanderlande Industries, together with Brock Solutions are also responsible for the supply and installation of the PLC controls/programming, which will interface to the new Baggage Control System (BCS).
