In September of 2004 Vanderlande Industries US Inc., was awarded a contract with the City of Houston for a total value of approximately USD 9 million. The award is for the supply and implementation of the inline Hold Baggage Screening System and associated controls for the new international terminal at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
This security enhancement project is being undertaken by the Houston Airport System with Parsons providing project management of a team comprised of Vanderlande Industries, BNP Associates, Inc., PGAL and Steward-Matl.
- Vanderlande Industries will be integrating a complete Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) System incorporating Explosive Detection Screening (EDS) machines with its baggage handling equipment in Terminal E
- Approximately 3,500 feet of conveyors, and associated equipment built in and around the baggage operations is required to complete the project
- Additional ancillary equipment includes (4) VERTISORTERs including (2) oversized units
- Vanderlande Industries, together with Brock Solutions are also responsible for the supply and installation of the controls system
The new system provides EDS capability for the new Terminal E facility that opened early 2005, with total project completion in April of 2005.
