Pharma and Personal Care: High service levels with fully validated processes
Distribution of a broad product range of high value pharmaceuticals, medical devices and personal care products poses special challenges. Very high customer expectations concerning delivery time and quality place a lot of pressure on warehouse logistics. Reliable distribution to customers and adherence to strict regulatory (cGMP) requirements are vital. Processes and equipment must be fully validated.
We can help you to optimise your warehouse and ensure fully GMP-validated processes. We have already designed and implemented automated warehouses for well-known pharmaceutical and medical device companies such as Amgen, Boston Scientific, Picking Farma and OFSA Cofares. In personal care we have designed and implemented automated warehouses for companies such as Rossmann, Wilhelm Hammesfahr and DA Retail.
Medical products
Amgen is a leading biopharmaceuticals company. To be able to deliver high service levels, Amgen invested in a highly modern goods-to-man order fulfilment system based on QUICKSTORE AS/RS in its European Logistics Center. This allows Amgen to achieve very high accuracy and short cycle times.
Boston Scientific is a leading medical device company, with a large distribution centre in the Netherlands. It invested in a zone picking system (14 pick zones) for 7,200 SKUs handling 1,750 order lines per hour. The system has improved productivity and reduced operator walking distances.
OFSA is a Spanish distributor of pharmaceutical products. It has a cross-docking system in operation in its warehouse in Guadalajara, which supplies pharmaceuticals to regional distribution centres. This system provides a high level of control over all sorted products, which is important because of the high value of the products handled. It also ensures centralised reception of incoming goods for the whole company, together with improved efficiency and lower costs per unit handled.
Personal Care
Health & Beauty chain Rossmann in Lodz (Poland) has modernised an existing distribution centre and added a six-aisle AS/RS. Rossmann is a top Health & Beauty chain from Germany. Rossmann's business is growing rapidly, particularly in Poland. Because of its ambitious plans, there is a need for a future-oriented logistic concept. Key of the solution is a zone picking system. The products are picked in totes from 5,000 flow racks supported by a Pick-to-Light system. The replenishisment in the flow racks is executed by 6 QUICKSTORE AS/RS.
DA Retail Groep is a leading drug stores chain in the Netherlands. The company centralised its distribution operation in Zwolle. To handle a higher workload, the existing zone picking system was expanded and upgraded to 28 zones. This was done during normal operations, without disrupting service to stores.
