Heathrow Terminal 5 system on-track
London Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 opened on 27th March, receiving its first flight from Chep Lap Kok – Hong Kong. The start-up of a new terminal always requires special attention and the resident Vanderlande maintenance and project team have been working in partnership with BAA and British Airways throughout the process.
The system is running well, delivering a level of performance after only 4 months which exceeds the 12 month targets and absorbing additional flights from other terminals on June 5th without a hitch.
The next challenge for Vanderlande Service Manager Gary McWilliam and his team is to support a smooth transfer of British Airways remaining long-haul flights on September 17th and October 22nd to Terminal 5 from the other Heathrow terminals.
