Vanderlande Industries to supply postal sorting systems to Korea Post, South Korea
Order for CROSSORTER systems marks first success out of eight tenders planned for coming years.
Veghel (Netherlands) – Vanderlande Industries (automated material handling systems), together with its Korean partner Daesung, has been awarded the contract to supply two of its CROSSORTER parcel and postal sorting systems to Korea Post in South Korea. These are the first CROSSORTER systems to be sold by the company on the Asian markets.
The order is for Korea Post’s Bu-Pyeong post office project and has been secured through a public tender procedure. The sale has now been confirmed following the announcement by Korea Post that Vanderlande Industries had successfully passed its technical evaluation process. This project in South Korea is particularly important as it is the first of eight tenders for upcoming Korea Post projects scheduled for the coming years.
The CROSSORTER offers a highly flexible solution for handling mixed flows of smaller and larger postal and express parcel items. Flexibility and capacity of the system are maximised by the use of two crossbelts on a single carrier. Both crossbelts can operate singly, carrying separate items, or together for larger items spanning both belts. The wear-free linear motors ensure low energy consumption and minimal maintenance needs, while the dual belts provide built-in redundancy for risk-free operation. With its flat crossbelts the CROSSORTER ensures maximum conveyability for items of widely varying shapes and sizes, together with excellent accuracy and reliability of sortation.
The Bu-Pyeong project for Korea Post is for two CROSSORTER systems with a total capacity of 20,000 parcels per hour, 10 infeed lines, 78 spiral chute outputs and one feedback line (to be supplied by Daesung). The order also includes a Vanderlande Industries FSC Equipment Controller for control of the transport belts and sorting equipment, as well as facilities for scanning, telecoding, manual coding and destination server (to be supplied by Daesung).
