Automated sortation system for returnable crates for Colruyt
Dolmen Industrial Projects, a 100% subsidiary of Colruyt, has selected Vanderlande Industries to build the sortation system for returnable crates in Colruyt’s DC in Ghislenghien, Belgium. The system handles the return flow of crates coming from Colruyt’s 200 retail stores. The new system is required to handle the company’s continued growth. The system includes 2 POSISORTER sliding shoe sorter systems, each with 21 outfeeds. Colruyt selected Vanderlande Industries because the company has significant experience in this type of concept.
The heart of the new sortation system is formed by two POSISORTER sliding shoe sorter systems. This particular system was selected because it is especially suited to convey products with an uneven bottom and of different sizes, weights and quality, while ensuring careful product handling. Each system has 21 outfeeds:
- 9 for medium movers (manual palletisation)
- 10 for fast movers (automatic palletisation)
- 1 for slow movers (manual palletisation)
- 1 for local beers.
Each sorter is designed to handle 4,700 crates per hour. The system will handle approximately 200 different SKUs.
Vanderlande Industries supplied the mechanical equipment and system controls. Dolmen Industrial Projects (www.dolmen-ip.com) acted as the general contractor and controls partner. The automatic palletisers are supplied to Dolmen Industrial Projects by FLsytems.
